Overview

The Ohio Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Coalition (OFCHC) is both a member-based coalition and trade association that was established to ensure Ohio’s presence both regionally and nationally in fuel cell and hydrogen discussions.

However, after several decades of existence, the industry has evolved. The key stakeholders, funding sources, and issues are different today. This motivated the coalition’s Executive Committee to step back to deeply reassess current priorities and strategies.

How We Did The Work

Through several virtual planning sessions, Sustainable Economies worked with OFCHC to do a rapid diagnostic. We asked questions such as:

  • What are the top challenges you are trying to solve?
  • What are your top strengths?
  • What would happen if your coalition would go away today – what gaps would there be?
  • What are the top objectives you want to achieve in our in-person strategy session?

The Executive Committee, as well as active members of other committees, met in person in January 2026 for a full-day strategy workshop facilitated by Sustainable Economies.

The Results

Through the strategy workshop, the team gained clarity on their unique value proposition for stakeholders in this new policy environment. They reassessed top funding opportunities relevant for 2026.

Most important, the team identified the three top strategic priorities for 2026. The participants reached consensus on priorities, assigned responsible parties and timelines. The team is well-positioned in 2026 to implement their goals and expand their current initiatives with the highest potential.
